| The vast, desolate expanse of Mars harbored a lonely outpost called Mariner Station, populated by a mix of original personnel and crew from the starship UES Rigel. Their presence was not one of exploration or scientific curiosity, but rather a grim necessity, the Earth had been irradiated and destroyed by an unknown, catastrophic force, leaving them stranded on the inhospitable red planet.
Amidst this bleak setting, Lieutenant Keran Travis of the GUARD military found himself grappling with a profound personal loss. His adopted father, Jon, had been killed by a bomb planted in his quarters, a brutal act that would soon unravel a web of secrets and lies. Keran's investigation led him to the NES (New Earth Society) hideout, where he encountered Org Vladistok, a man convicted of murdering his fiancee and banished from Mariner Station, now leading a group of outcasts in the caverns.
It was here that Keran's world was shattered once more, as he came face-to-face with his real father, Poul Travis, who had been hiding amongst the NES since its inception. Poul revealed a startling truth the GUARD's plan to terraform Mars was a futile endeavor that would take centuries, and he had proposed an alternative: to take the Rigel to a habitable planet in the Rigel system. The GUARD, deeming his ideas treasonous, had attempted to silence him, leaving him and Keran's mother for dead after a mission gone awry.
Torn between his allegiances and the weight of these revelations, Keran found himself reluctantly drawn into a daring raid on Mariner Station, orchestrated by Poul and Vlad. Their goal was to steal shuttles and seize the UES Rigel, leaving the GUARD and the remaining personnel to fend for themselves on Mars. However, Keran's hesitation soon turned to horror as the NES attack claimed dozens of lives, and he resolved to remain on Mars, rejecting the violent methods of his father's cause.
The NES departed with the Rigel, bound for the Rigel system, but a startling revelation emerged – their true destination was Sirius, where an Earth-like planet had been discovered. Desperate for fuel, they returned to the irradiated remains of Earth, encountering terribly mutated humanoids and barely escaping with a few fuel rods and a transformed, violent crew member who had to be jettisoned into space.
Poul then unveiled the existence of powerful Dark Energy Crystals, capable of opening portals and achieving faster-than-light travel. With dwindling resources, they used the crystals to open a rift, flinging them through time and space, encountering the distress signal of the long-lost UES Polaris and aiding the survivors of a shadowy, destructive force on a distant planet.
As the Rigel became ensnared in a temporal flux, with different sections of the ship existing in different time periods, they sought refuge on an Earth-like planet similarly afflicted by temporal distortions. It was here that they encountered aliens who possessed technology to correct the temporal anomalies plaguing the universe.
Meanwhile, on Mars, Keran and Dr. Elara stumbled upon a vast cavern filled with alien technology, where they too were confronted by these enigmatic beings. Utilizing their advanced capabilities and the power of thought, they succeeded in restoring the universe to its proper temporal order, rendering Mars habitable and reversing the destruction of Earth.
In a shocking twist, Captain Trevor found himself aboard a shuttle approaching the UES Rigel, with no recollection of how he arrived there. The ship and the Earth-like planet they orbited had been transformed, existing in a past era akin to the 19th century. Greeted by the now-Admiral Poul Travis, Trevor and the Rigel's crew embarked on a journey to return to the restored Earth, over 30,000 light-years away, leaving behind the temporal chaos that had once threatened to unravel the fabric of reality itself. | | Social links:

| About the Author J. Thomas Hunton grew up in rural Maine, the youngest of four siblings in a typical 60's family. His love for nature and exploring led him to spend his days walking through fields and forests, climbing trees, and fishing in brooks and lakes.
But at a young age, J.Thomas was forced to navigate family separations and choose between his parents. These challenges left him feeling withdrawn, turning to fantasy and poetry as an escape. It wasn't until his eighth grade teacher saw potential in his writing that he considered becoming an author.
At seventeen, J.Thomas joined the Army and quickly matured as he was exposed to new environments and cultures. After three years, he left the Army and married his love Frances before joining the U.S Navy.
J.Thomas proudly served for seventeen years, reaching the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer. During this time, he also pursued higher education while working various jobs in electronics and construction.
In 2019, J.Thomas lost his wife Frances to cancer and struggled with grief and depression. Eventually, he reunited with an old flame from eighth grade, Barbara, who he later married. The couple moved to Florida in 2022.
After finally finding relief from his illnesses with medication, J. Thomas returned to writing in 2024. He quickly completed his second novel, "Displacement," which was published in November of that year. Currently, he is revamping "Marscape" under the title "Marscape: Revisited" and working on the sequel to "Displacement."
"Annunaki" holds a special place in J.Thomas' heart as it explores theories about human origins that he had long questioned during his involvement with various Christian and Jewish Messianic religions. His interest in the Annunaki theory was sparked after reading the works of Zechariah Sitchin.
Today, J.Thomas lives in Florida with his wife Barbara and their dog Willow. He continues to pursue his passions for writing and music, playing in a band called "Six River Band" and collaborating with other musicians who share a love for bluegrass and country music. |
