A new era of space exploration dawned with the launch of the cutting-edge ship Asteria. Its captain, the intrepid Georgia Evans, received a dire communication - a strange energy signature was hurtling towards Earth from beyond Jupiter\'s orbit. Urgently, she assembled her crew: the brilliant Dr. Eliza Chen, pilot extraordinaire Lt. Paul Jason, and technical genius Jeff Dimitri. Briefed by General Tom Robart on this cosmic anomaly, they embarked on a mission that would redefine the boundaries of space and time itself.

Upon boarding the Asteria, they were greeted by Astra, the ship\'s highly advanced AI assistant. Without delay, they charted a course towards the mysterious phenomenon. As they closed in, the anomaly began a breathtaking metamorphosis, unveiling visions that spanned the entire history of the universe and their solar system.

Through a psychic link with Captain Evans, the entity revealed itself as the Guardian, an ancient force tasked with safeguarding existence itself. It showed her visions of Earth and other worlds facing annihilation at the hands of a sinister force known as the \'Darkness\'. The Guardian then issued them a harrowing mission - to alter the destiny of the cosmos by destroying this Darkness.

In a blinding flash, the Guardian propelled the Asteria and its crew through the fabric of space and time itself. They found themselves hurtling through astounding vistas, only to discover a shocking truth - the Guardian and the Darkness were one and the same. In a climactic battle that defied the laws of physics, they succeeded in sealing a rift through which the Darkness had planned to pour its malevolent forces.

Victorious but adrift, the Guardian opened a wormhole to return them to Earth. However, upon emerging, they realized they had been flung into Earth\'s distant future. Here, humanity had been subsumed by a powerful alien race known as the Lumina, who had reshaped human destiny to serve their own enigmatic vision.

Narrowly escaping the Lumina\'s influence, the crew sought refuge on Mars, only to be welcomed by the remaining unassimilated humans eking out an existence there. Their respite proved short-lived as an armada of Lumina vessels descended, intent on eliminating the last bastions of free humanity.

As the Martian colonies crumbled under the Lumina\'s devastating assault, the crew made a desperate gambit - return to their own time and prevent the original Asteria from ever embarking on its universe-altering voyage. By doing so, they hoped to restore the timeline to its intended course and save humanity from the existential threats that now loomed.

With their ship\'s quantum drives straining, they tunneled through the time vortex, emerging in their own reality mere moments before their past selves had departed. Facing themselves, they revealed the grave dangers that lay ahead, imploring their earlier incarnations to abandon their mission to confront the Guardian and the Darkness. As the temporal paradox reached its zenith, the timeline realigned, leaving the heroic crew to ponder if they had truly averted an apocalyptic future - or if the wheels of destiny would inexorably continue spinning towards an inescapable cosmic conflagration

About the Author

J. Thomas Hunton grew up in rural Maine, the youngest of four siblings in a typical 60\'s family. His love for nature and exploring led him to spend his days walking through fields and forests, climbing trees, and fishing in brooks and lakes.

But at a young age, J.Thomas was forced to navigate family separations and choose between his parents. These challenges left him feeling withdrawn, turning to fantasy and poetry as an escape. It wasn\'t until his eighth grade teacher saw potential in his writing that he considered becoming an author.

At seventeen, J.Thomas joined the Army and quickly matured as he was exposed to new environments and cultures. After three years, he left the Army and married his love Frances before joining the U.S Navy.

J.Thomas proudly served for seventeen years, reaching the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer. During this time, he also pursued higher education while working various jobs in electronics and construction.

In 2019, J.Thomas lost his wife Frances to cancer and struggled with grief and depression. Eventually, he reunited with an old flame from eighth grade, Barbara, who he later married. The couple moved to Florida in 2022.

After finally finding relief from his illnesses with medication, J. Thomas returned to writing in 2024. He quickly completed his second novel, "Displacement," which was published in November of that year. Currently, he is revamping "Marscape" under the title "Marscape: Revisited" and working on the sequel to "Displacement."

"Annunaki" holds a special place in J.Thomas\' heart as it explores theories about human origins that he had long questioned during his involvement with various Christian and Jewish Messianic religions. His interest in the Annunaki theory was sparked after reading the works of Zechariah Sitchin.

Today, J.Thomas lives in Florida with his wife Barbara and their dog Willow. He continues to pursue his passions for writing and music, playing in a band called "Six River Band" and collaborating with other musicians who share a love for bluegrass and country music.
